Good shield, some shipping issues

I purchased a Honda CR-V Cat Shield a few weeks ago. The shield itself feels very sturdy, definitely an upgrade in security for the car. Installation was fairly straightforward with the included tamper-proof hardware, though the instructions could use a few more detailed diagrams. My main gripe was with the shipping; it took 8 days to reach me in Arizona, which felt a bit long, and the box arrived a little dinged up, though the shield inside was fine. Customer service was responsive when I inquired about the delay, which was a plus. Overall, a solid product for the price, but shipping could be quicker.

Dependable as always

I ordered another Toyota Prius Cat Shield, this time for my son's car. It was the stainless steel version. Took 4 days to get here in Portland. Installation went smoothly, just like the one I got for my own car last year. Millercat continues to be reliable for these. Good to know what to expect.

Got my Cat Shield for the F-150 today, shipping was super fast. Ordered it Sunday night, arrived Tuesday afternoon. Impressed!

F FrequentBuyer 1 month ago
Yeah, shipping times vary. I've had some stuff from them come in 2 days, others 5. Depends on stock and my location probably.

P PartsGuy 1 month ago
Same here. I think it depends on the product too. Converters might ship differently.

Mine took a bit longer, like 4 days for my Lexus RX shield. But I'm in a different state so maybe that's why.

C CarDude 1 month ago
Which state are you in?

T TruckGuy77 1 month ago
Could be. I'm relatively close to their shipping origin.

Anyone know if Miller CAT usually runs a Black Friday sale for their shields? Need one for my Element.

D DealFinder 2 months ago
I'd check Slickdeals closer to the date. Sometimes people post specific codes there. I heard they also do military discounts.

V VetDriver 2 months ago
They do, confirmed. My buddy used his.

Oh, a military discount would be awesome! I'll look into that.

They usually do have a holiday sale, sometimes Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Keep an eye on their site around then. I got a good deal on my Prius shield last year during that time.

E ElementLover 2 months ago
Good to know, thanks! I'll hold out then.

Considering the aluminum vs. stainless steel Cat Shield for my Prius. Is the weight difference that noticeable, or should I just go for maximum protection with stainless?

L LexusHybrid 1 month ago
I went with aluminum for my CT200h. It's plenty strong for a deterrent and saves a little on the installation effort. No regrets.

P PriusDriver 1 month ago
Good to hear a real-world take.
7
S ShieldExpert 1 month ago
For a Prius, the weight difference isn't going to be a huge factor in performance or MPG. Stainless is definitely stronger against brute force, but aluminum is still super tough and lighter.
3
P PriusDriver 1 month ago
That's what I was thinking. Just didn't want to weigh down the hybrid too much.
6
I InstallHelper 1 month ago
Aluminum is often easier to install too because it's lighter.

Just got a notification my Miller CAT order shipped. It's a CARB compliant converter for my old Prius. Hope it passes smog!

C CA_Smogger 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
As long as it's truly CARB compliant and installed correctly, you should be fine. I've used their CARB converters before in CA and never had an issue with inspection.

G GreenPrius 1 month ago
That's reassuring to hear. Thanks!

C CA_Smogger 1 month ago
Just specific ones. You gotta make sure it says CARB on the product page.

C ConverterQuest 1 month ago
Are all their converters CARB compliant or just specific ones?

C CRV_TuneUp 1 month ago
Good luck! Mine passed with their direct-fit converter for my Honda CR-V. Make sure to clear any old codes before testing.

Will do! Thanks for the tip.

Does Miller CAT offer a first-time buyer discount? Trying to save a few bucks on a new shield for my RAV4.

D DealsGuru 1 month ago
They did have a 'Welcome10' code a while back for 10% off. Not sure if it's still active. Worth trying at checkout.

I don't recall seeing a specific first-time buyer discount, but they often have general promo codes or holiday sales. Sometimes if you sign up for their email list, you might get a code.

Just installed the stainless steel Cat Shield on my Tacoma. It was a bit of a project but feels super solid. Anyone else do it themselves?

P PriusFan 2 months ago
I had a shop install mine on my Prius. Didn't want to mess with it myself, especially with the lift situation. How long did it take you guys?
2
M MikeT 2 months ago
About 2 hours for me, taking my sweet time.
7
S SarahP 2 months ago
Same here, maybe a bit longer with all the breaks.
8
S SarahP 2 months ago
Yeah, I put the aluminum one on my RAV4 a few months back. Not too bad, just needed a good jack and some patience. Those security screws are no joke to get in tight spaces though.
4
M MikeT 2 months ago
Agreed on the screws! My hands were aching.
5
T TacomaGuy 2 months ago
Did you use power tools or just hand tools for those?
8
S SarahP 2 months ago
Mostly hand tools, a drill for some pilot holes though.

Thinking about getting a Cat Shield for my RAV4. Does it come with everything needed to put it on, or do I need to grab extra bolts and stuff?

J Julia Carter 3 months ago
Yeah, it comes with all the hardware. No need to buy anything else. Just follow the instructions.

D David Kim 3 months ago
Mine did for my Tacoma. I think it included special tamper-proof screws too, which is a nice touch. Saved me a trip to the hardware store for sure.

Anyone know how long shipping usually takes for these shields? I live in Seattle and need one kinda quick.

M Marcus Kim 3 months ago
For Seattle, I'd say maybe 4-7 business days. It's usually pretty quick but depends on their stock.
1
M Mia Okafor 3 months ago
Mine took about a week to get to Oregon, so Seattle should be similar. They ship from California I think, so not super far.
